Timeline of Past & Current Ministers

1821 – Reverend John Guldin becomes ordained and serves as Pastor at St. Peter until 1840.
1840-1848 – Various ministers took turns serving the Church which included Reverend Jacob William Haagen, Reverend Andrew Young, Reverend John Sharpley Foulk & Reverend Lawrence D. Leberman.
1848 – 1854 – Reverend David Heffelfinger is licensed to preach the Gospel and that September began his service to the Brownbacks charge including St. Peter & Shenkle Churches.
1855 – Reverend William Sorber begins his ministry at St. Peters Temple, Brownbacks and Shenkel Church and would serve for 23 years until his death in 1878,
1878 – 1888 – Reverend George Sorber (son of William Sorber) begins a short term at St. Peter Temple.
1888-- Reverend James Wilbert Meninger begins a short stay as Minister of the Church.
1888 – 1890 - Reverend Abraham D. Wolfinger serves as Pastor.
1891 – 1893 – Reverend Henry Hilbish begins his charge of Brownbacks and St. Peter Temple.
1894 – 1901 – St. Peter Temple is served by two separate Pastors, Rev. Frank Nelson Bleiler & Rev. George William Royer.
1901 – 1914 – St. Peter Temple is served by the Reverend Charles H. Slinghoff.
1915 – 1921 – Rever Art. C. Ohl serves the charge of Brownbacks and St. Peter
1921 – 1927 – Reverend Vernon Doyle Grubb
1920 – Reverend Vernon Grubb designated as Pastor. Conducted services every Sunday at Brownbacks Church and every other Sunday afternoon at St. Peter Temple.
1928 – 1931 - Reverend Thomas Matterness
1931 – 1935 – Various short term supply pastors
1935- Reverend Ethelbert Bretney Yost “Bertie” chosen as the new Minister of St. Peter Temple and was largely credited for reviving the Church’s attendance. He would serve until his death in 1957.
1957 – 1967 – Reverend Paul Wickie Yoh
1968 – 1972 – Reverend Thomas Adams
